We go to Disney World for the snacks.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

Okay, so maybe we go for a little more than that, like the rides, the entertainment, and the characters. But we have to admit that we also just really look forward to eating the snacks, too. We definitely have our favorites (and we’re the first to tell you about them), but there’s one specific snack that we have to warn you about.

This snack can be found at BoardWalk Deli, which you’ll find at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.

It’s a cookie called the Half Moon Cookie, and at first glance, you might think this is like a traditional Black and White Cookie because of the black and white split color. When it first arrived in Disney World, a lot of folks assumed it was the same, but it’s not. Both cookies are traditional to the state of New York, though.

There’s actually a bit of a difference between this and the Black and White Cookie. A Black and White cookie is a bit more flat and usually has either fondant or royal icing on top. The cookie itself is also usually a vanilla cookie.

The Half Moon Cookie, on the other hand, has a slight dome shape on the bottom with frosting on an angel food cake base. One side is also often frosted higher than the other, as you can see here. The cookie base is usually chocolate.

There’s more frosting on one side

That means there’s a difference in taste because the Half Moon Cookie base itself is less dense than its Black and White counterpart. This particular one has a very dark chocolate-like flavor, which combines nicely with the sweetness of the frosting. Plus, it has a cute little Mickey on it.

This place has TONS of great options!

So, why are we talking about a random cookie in Disney World? Well, recently, Emma has been on a mission to do EVERYTHING in Disney World in 100 days, and part of her challenge took her to the BoardWalk Deli! And here’s a fun fact for ya — Emma is somewhat of a BoardWalk Deli expert; she used to work at this location when it was called the BoardWalk Bakery.

So, if you find yourself at BoardWalk Deli, we just wanted to let you know that the cookie available there is not like a Black and White Cookie, although the colors are similar. Watch the rest of Emma’s day in Disney World below!
