Wyndham opens second U.S. ECHO Suites hotel

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has opened its second U.S. ECHO Suites property in Texas. The ECHO Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham Dallas Plano/Frisco is one of 25 ECHO Suites Gulf Coast Hotel Management plans to open in the coming years and joins nearly 270 hotels in the pipeline.

Ian McClure, CEO of Gulf Coast Hotel Management and owner of the hotel, was part of the ECHO Suites developer’s council that created the brand. ECHO Suites hotels have built-in kitchens and on-site laundry facilities.

Plano, Texas, is a fast-growing tech hub that has attracted economic investments, particularly related to healthcare and corporate expansion. Among the city’s demand generators are the:

  • Expansion of Collin College, creating 4,000 jobs and broadening programming for high-demand healthcare professions;
  • Expansion of Children’s Medical Center, including a new 395,000-square-foot tower set to open by the end of the year;
  • Building of a new 800,000-square-foot Wells Fargo campus, expected to be completed in 2024 and expected to result in 4,000+ jobs; and
  • Existing presence from corporations with headquarter locations in Plano, including Toyota Motor North America and PepsiCo/Frito-Lay, among others.

The centralized location of the new ECHO Suites in Plano makes the property convenient to all major office parks as well as current and future development.

Consumer demand for affordable extended-stay hotels is driving record occupancy, average daily rate and revenue per available room. Historic infrastructure and microchip spend is driving a multiyear boom in the lodging sector and Wyndham expects ECHO Suites hotels to help franchisees “capture a tailwind” of what the team expects to be a $3.3 billion opportunity in additional room revenue.
