With the summer heat still in full swing, two top-ranked waterfront hotels in New England look more appealing than ever.

Chatham Bars Inn and Madison Beach Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton in Connecticut were both voted among the top 10 waterfront hotels or resorts in the country by USA Today readers.

“Whether by a lake or overlooking the sea, there’s something special about vacationing near water,” USA Today said in their list, published Wednesday, part of the “USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards” series. Readers vote for their favorites across a variety of travel and lifestyle categories.

Ranked at No. 2 on the list, just behind Acqualina Resort & Residences on the Beach in Florida, Chatham Bars Inn was recognized as the ”classic New England destination” with a private beach and “stunning views.”

“With 25 landscaped acres, poolside and beachfront cabanas and lounges, cottages, and five on-site dining options, there’s a lot to enjoy,” the publication said. “Settle into an Adirondack chair, stroll into town, or get out on the water to watch the whales.”

In 2023, the celebrated hotel earned a coveted Forbes five-star rating.

At No. 4, Madison Beach Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton in Connecticut, overlooks the Long Island Sound and is an “elegant spa resort that features a private beach with open-air concerts in the summertime,” the publication said.

“Elegant balcony rooms offer chaise lounges, and the gorgeous two-bedroom suites boast wrap-around balconies with views of the Sound, as well as full kitchens and soaking tubs, perfect for extended stays,” USA Today said.
