Banking on the tourism boom in Bohol, the hospitality unit of Robinsons Land Corp. is set to construct a beachfront hotel carrying its “Grand Summit” brand on Panglao Island.

The fourth “Grand Summit” hotel, spanning 7,737 square meters, will have over 200 room keys, all-day dining, specialty restaurant, gym and spa.

“We are excited to welcome guests to Grand Summit Panglao to support the booming tourism sector’s call for a quality upscale hotel brand,” says Barun Jolly, senior vice president and business unit general manager of Robinsons Hotels and Resorts (RHR).

RHR is positioning the Panglao hotel as a contemporary resort hotel catering to both local and foreign guests amid the surging demand for travel.

“With the guests at the center of everything we do, we are committed to bringing the warmth of Filipino hospitality to the shores of Panglao,” RHR vice president Annalyn Yap says.

Data from the Department of Tourism show that Panglao had a 122-percent year-on-year increase in overnight travelers in 2023.

Expansion program

The influx of travelers is only expected to be sustained with the expansion of Bohol-Panglao International Airport, allowing more guests to visit this popular tourist destination.

In October last year, RHR announced its P10-billion investment to develop new upscale projects in Luzon and Cebu Province totaling 990 hotel room keys.

These include the launch of NuStar in Cebu, Fili in Quezon City and Grand Summit Hotels and Resorts properties in Cebu and Pangasinan.

RHR is ramping up its projects in the provinces as more developers scout for areas outside Metro Manila. According to a study by real estate brokerage firm Leechiu Property Consultants, Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City are among the most popular investment areas for hotels.

RHR currently has 30 properties across 20 cities and municipalities in the country, including budget hotel chain Go Hotels and Holiday Inn Manila Galleria.

In January to September last year, RHR grew its revenues by 33 percent to P4.32 billion. Parent company Robinsons Land saw its earnings rise by 13 percent to P10 billion for the period, thanks to robust performance of mall and hotel businesses.
