TRAVELERS REST, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Travelers Rest residents filed a legal protest against the annexation of a proposed luxury hotel meaning council would need a supermajority vote to approve the project.
The Inn at Altamont has faced a lot of pushback from neighbors concerned about protecting the mountain and the surrounding infrastructure.

Now, much of Paris Mountain is zoned as environmentally sensitive in the county. The hotel developers filed a request to be annexed into the city which would allow them to build the hotel.
However, since the legal protest was filed, Travelers Rest City Council will now need a seven out of nine vote to approve the annexation. If three councilmembers vote no, the hotel application fails.
There is a public hearing scheduled for tomorrow at 6 p.m. We plan to be there.
