Hilton announces the opening of Palacio de Godoy Cáceres, Curio Collection by Hilton, following the restoration of the 16th-century Palacio de Godoy, a monumental landmark built in 1563 as the residence of the famous Spanish conquistador Francisco Godoy. The hotel’s narrative is inspired by the significant role played by Extremadura in the conquest of the Americas.

The opening marks the arrival of the Curio Collection by Hilton lifestyle brand to Cáceres, a portfolio of unique properties which offer guests a distinctive design, curated local cuisine and immersive experiences. Cáceres is a crossroads of cultures due to its history of coexistence between Jewish, Muslim, and Christian traditions. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, it is one of the best-preserved historical sites not only in Extremadura, but in Spain. Its cobbled streets, well-preserved buildings, and carefully maintained atmosphere are fundamental aspects in the choice of Cáceres as the backdrop for numerous historical films.

The hotel features 73 guest rooms, grand function rooms, the Bar Virú, a rooftop bar with views of the old city and the Extremadura countryside, a spa, and the signature cuisine of Mamay Aldana, making it a truly unique destination.

Under the guidance of Chef Antonio Manuel Céspedes Rodríguez, Mamay Aldana aims to pay tribute to all mothers, conveying the history and tradition of Extremadura through its dishes. It is no coincidence that part of the land now occupied by the hotel was once used as a maternity home. And to honor women’s cooking and cultural fusion, this restaurant pays special tribute to Francisco Godoy’s mother, María de Aldana. Because kitchens have historically been places where traditions have been preserved and where cultural fusion took place during the conquest of America. That is why this unique space immerses guests in the culture and cuisine of its five centuries of history and cultural fusion.

The architecture is the work of BSV Arquitectos, while the gardens have been designed by Álvaro de la Rosa, irrigated naturally by water flowing from the rock beneath Cáceres. The landscaping combines native plants with American species, evoking the gardens of Lima in the 16th and 17th centuries.

The project, developed by SCIPION Real Estate, represents an investment of €14 million and has created 60 jobs. With 73 rooms, the new property enjoys a privileged location in Plaza de Santiago, just steps away from the city’s Plaza Mayor. The property is managed by Panoram Hotel Management, a leading multi-brand hotel management company in Spain.
