Located at a distance of 2 km from Palampur, a town famous as the Tea Capital of North India, there is a hidden wonder that I am discussing in my travel story, ‘Neugal Café‘. Beautiful and amazing views surrounded this spot. Every time I visited Neugal Café in Palampur, I felt a sense of calmness and happiness while spending time. Evenings at Neugal Café are especially memorable, as riding my memory of the evenings that we have spent here, I cannot help but recall the splendid views that enveloped us, the soft-spoken words of the mountains, and the gentle song of the flowing water. The charm of Neugal Cafe in Palampur is truly unmatched.
The Allure of Palampur
Palampur is one of my favourite places for weekend trips. It’s a wonderful hilly town with fantastic weather year-round. Beautiful green pine forests offer breathtaking views of the Dhouladhar ranges. It indeed is the best option for any nature lover seeking calmness. The tea plantations set up here in 1849 are not only one of the reasons to identify Palampur but also beautifully paint the place in green colouring, which enchants every traveler. The name Palum, meaning “abundant water,” perfectly captures the area’s refreshing and gentle atmosphere, enhanced by the nearby flowing streams. This description applies to Neugal Cafe as well, especially during the evenings at Neugal Café.
Evening at Neugal Café
As the sky blazed with sunset colors of orange and pink, Rajni and I walked towards Neugal Café. As we walk in, the aroma of fresh tea mixes with the mountain air and we are lifted. We find a nice spot near the stream, get comfortable, and are surrounded by greenery that creates a little bubble from the outside world. The leaves rustle softly, and it’s like a sweet symphony, we ask ourselves to sit back and enjoy the moment. Evenings at Neugal Café are truly magical. It’s here by the water that we share our thoughts and laughter, and let the worries of life float away like the clouds above the mountains.
Neugal Cafe, Palampur
Neugal Cafe in Palampur is a great hangout spot, and if you’re not in the mood for tea, they have plenty of other options available! Enjoying the delicious treats during evenings at Neugal Café is an unparalleled experience. Neugal Cafe is just 2 kilometers from the main market of Palampur and the walk is gorgeous! While we drove, I highly recommend walking to the cafe to enjoy a stroll through tea gardens and past charming homes.

Moments of Togetherness
More than anything, I value the chance to converse with Rajni and enjoy her company during these evenings. Each visit brings stories from our lives, dreams yet to be fulfilled, and laughter that echoes through the hills. We sit for hours and sometimes pause to let the beauty around us sink in – the sunset casting its golden glow on the tea gardens, the whispering winds carrying the pine scent and the sound of water flowing over rocks, a perfect setting for our memories.
The evenings we spend at Neugal Café are much more than a simple inclusion in our travel plans; they are vital and memorable parts of our trips that we greatly value. The cafe, with its rustic charm and captivating views, has transformed into our sanctuary, a place where the hustle and bustle of life melt away, allowing time to stand still. The evenings I spend at the Neugal Café always bring back cherished memories of simple pleasures and quiet moments of joy that I hold there.
As I think of all the evenings we have at Neugal Café, I realize it’s not just the physical beauty of Palampur that attracts me, but the connections and moments made in nature’s lap. This Café, with its warm ambiance, is a reminder of the simple joys of life. The restaurant also has an external seating area. If you want to enjoy your food sitting on the lap of nature, looking at birds, snow-covered peaks and cedar forests, and listening to Gurgling water, then the Neugal Cafe is the perfect place to be in the cafe. A water stream is passing and you can sit there and enjoy the water by putting your feet in the water. Rajni always did this activity.
I wish to go there again and again.
