Morgan’s Wonderland reveals plans for Ultra-Accommodating Hotel
Morgan’s Wonderland, the world’s first theme park designed and built for people with special needs, has revealed plans for Morgan’s Hotel, which will be located near the park in San Antonio, Texas.
The Ultra-Accommodating Hotel will exceed regular ADA requirements to offer a considerate experience for visitors of all ages and abilities.
Gordon Hartman, founder of Morgan’s, says: “I am confident that this new hotel concept will remove barriers and tremendously enhance the lodging experience for everyone. This will certainly be a hotel for everyone including those with special needs who, going forward, will feel more included, valued, and fulfilled.”
Welcoming guests of all abilities
Morgan’s Hotel will offer a stylish, functional design, with generous common areas and guest rooms that allow for independent movement, removing the barriers typically encountered in traditional hotels. It will accommodate individuals of all abilities, building on the knowledge gained from previous Morgan’s Ultra-Accessible venues.
By 2030, it is expected that one in five Americans will be of retirement age and the hotel will serve the ageing population as well as guests with special needs. Larger guest rooms, easy access to elevators, and wider corridors are all hallmarks of the hotel’s design.
In addition to improving the visitor experience, Morgan’s Hotel’s commitment to corporate responsibility also strengthens the brand reputation of partners that share these values. The San Antonio location will set a standard for future Ultra-Accommodating hotels, causing a cultural shift in the hospitality sector. Internationally acclaimed hotel chains such as Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt are negotiating with Hartman to be the first to brand this trailblazing approach to accommodation.
Commitment to inclusion
Morgan’s Hotel is set to open in 2026 and is positioned to shift the narrative of the multibillion-dollar hotel business. It offers investors a unique opportunity to generate profit while positively impacting society.
The hotel aims to offer peace of mind and an environment of acceptance for all guests. Specialist services will be available including staff trained in disability etiquette, support with mobility devices, and accommodations like sensory-sensitive lighting and colours, and hearing aid loops.
Hartman’s commitment to inclusion was ignited in 2006 when he saw his daughter Morgan, who has special needs, excluded from play while on vacation.
“Morgan’s Hotel will do for the hospitality industry what our other venues have done—create spaces where everyone feels welcome and included,” Hartman adds.
Morgan’s Wonderland has undertaken its largest expansion to date for the 2024 season, with a $6 million investment in new attractions. Additions include a 4D cinema, a passenger boat ride, a zip line attraction named Rocket’s Sky Flight Adventure, and a wheelchair-accessible ride dubbed Jette’s Magic Bikes.
