CHICAGO – Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) has announced today its expansion plans in some of the most popular holiday destinations among British travelers[1]. Since 2017, the company has quadrupled its portfolio in European and African destinations renowned for their climate, beaches, landscapes, and cultural richness. These include Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Egypt, and Morocco. Looking ahead, Hyatt plans to add 20 new hotels in these and other destinations, such as Albania and Croatia. This expansion represents 20% growth in Hyatt’s brand presence in these destinations, adding over 4,000 new rooms for the dream vacations of millions of British holidaymakers.
Among these 20 new openings are first-time entries into destinations such as the Greek island of Paros, Portugal’s Algarve, Seville in Spain, Zadar in Croatia, and Palase on the Albanian Riviera.
In addition to our strong position in the corporate and urban spaces, where we are particularly focused on expanding in the lifestyle and luxury segments, Hyatt is experiencing rapid growth in leisure, said Manuel Melenchón, Managing Director South for Hyatt in EAME. Today, we not only have over 50 resorts in Spain’s Canary and Balearic Islands, Greece and Bulgaria, but we also have a strong brand presence in other top European holiday destinations, from France and Italy to Malta, Montenegro, Egypt and Türkiye. The announcement of 20 new openings over the next three years in these and other destinations confirms that our momentum has never been stronger. We continue to diversify our footprint, allowing more travelers than ever to experience what Hyatt has to offer.
Key openings to reinforce Hyatt’s strong market position in top vacation destinations in Europe include:
- Sarena de Muro, Destination by Hyatt, a Mediterranean paradise featuring exquisite dining and classic architecture at Playa de Muro, opening in Mallorca in 2025.
- Alua Soul Sunny Beach Resort, located in Burgas, Bulgaria, one of the country’s most popular seaside spots, known for its long sandy beaches, also opening in 2025.
- Kampos Hotel, Destination by Hyatt, offering guests an authentic, culturally immersive experience on the Greek island of Paros, opening in 2026.
Hyatt’s expansion will also include openings such as Hyatt Regency Zadar in Croatia, Hyatt Centric Reims in France, Hyatt Regency Rome Central in Italy, Andaz Lisbon in Portugal, Thompson Seville in Spain and Hyatt Regency Palase Resort & Spa in Albania.
Even More Options for British Holidaymakers with Mr & Mrs Smith
Another way Hyatt continues to expand its offerings for travelers seeking unforgettable vacations is through Mr & Mrs Smith, acquired in 2023. This platform provides direct booking access to a carefully curated collection of boutique and luxury properties.
In April 2024, Hyatt announced that World of Hyatt members could earn and redeem points at more than 700 Mr & Mrs Smith hotels. The company has now surpassed 1,000 properties in the Mr & Mrs Smith portfolio where its 54 million loyalty program members can earn and redeem points when booking through Hyatt channels.
Over the past two years, the participating Mr & Mrs Smith properties have added dozens of sought-after countries to World of Hyatt. That includes highly popular vacation destinations among European travelers such as Cyprus, Croatia, Mauritius and the Virgin Islands. Additionally, the partnership has significantly expanded the offerings available through Hyatt’s booking channels in key holiday hotspots for European travelers. Among the latest 400 Mr & Mrs Smith hotels to join Hyatt’s loyalty program, more than 170 properties are located across Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Portugal and Morocco.
“The integration of more than 1,000 Mr & Mrs Smith hotels into the World of Hyatt program offers members not only a wider range of destinations but also a broader selection of experiences where they can earn or redeem points. This is especially true in some of the most popular vacation spots among European holidaymakers, where Hyatt holds a strong position in the all-inclusive segment. Combined with Mr & Mrs Smith’s thoughtful curation standards, this allows for everything from a worry-free luxury resort stay to a one-of-a-kind experience at a boutique hotel with unparalleled design and ambiance,” said Aimee Hodgkin, Hotel and Villa Partnerships Director at Mr & Mrs Smith.
