RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – A homeless hotel in Rutland that was shut down for health code violations is back open.

The Vermont Department of Health suspended the Cortina Inn’s license in December because of persistent problems like rodents, bedbugs, and plumbing issues.

Now that the suspension has been lifted, officials say the owners must regularly prove to the health department that it’s clean, pest-free, and compliant with all state regulations until they apply for a new license in July.

The hotel was a part of the state’s homeless housing program, but it’s unclear if that partnership will continue. The management did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
