If you’re a K-pop or K-drama fan heading to Korea, here’s a travel tip you need to try at least once: watch a live award show!

Every time I plan a Korea trip, one of my habits is checking Klook, Trazy, and Global Interpark for any concerts, festivals, or award shows that might line up with my travel dates. There’s something magical about experiencing Kpop in its home turf, surrounded by fellow fans, and if you’re lucky, you might just catch a dream lineup!

That’s exactly what happened last winter. During my trip, I found out that a brand new award show called the D-Awards which was happening for the first time. The venue was the Hwajeong Gymnasium at Korea University, and the lineup was too good to pass up: ENHYPEN, TWS, N.Flying, ZEROBASEONE, RIIZE, and more. It was an intimate venue, so I didn’t hesitate and booked my ticket right away!

The show itself was hosted and presented by a star-studded lineup, including actors Go Min-si, Lee Jong-won, Bae In-hyuk, Kim Ji-eun, 2PM’s Hwang Chan-sung, GOT7’s Park Jinyoung, and Roh Jeong-eui. It felt like a crossover moment — getting to see both Kdrama and Kpop stars in one night!

Now, I have to be honest. The standing section was a bit of a struggle. There were so many people with massive cameras and tall tripods that at times, I felt like I was being used as their tripod . It definitely made seeing the stage and snapping good pics a challenge. But even with the chaos, the energy was unbeatable.

In the end, SEVENTEEN took home Artist of the Year! I was so surprised coz they were not in the lineup, so happy to see my faves even though it’s just through the big screens! And the fact that I got to see so many Kpop idols and actors, that alone made the whole experience unforgettable.
