2 injured following another Sumter hotel shooting


SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) – Days after a deadly shooting at a hotel in Sumter, two people were injured in a similar incident.

According to the Sumter Police Department, a shooting happened Friday morning at the Sumter Palmetto Inn on North Washington Street.

The two injured people were taken to the hospital, one to a Sumter hospital and the other to Columbia.

This is the second shooting incident at a hotel in Sumter in a week. The first shooting happened on Sunday, Aug. 18, two people died following a shooting at the Sleep Inn on Broad Street. The victims were identified as 20-year-old Saquan Logan and 19-year-old Demari Spann by Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker.

Police said they believe the latest shooting was an isolated incident and they are still investigating.
